<Veterinarian Druid Episode 7>
The Count's office was in disarray, resembling a disaster control center.
Knights rushed in and out through the wide-open doors, and the Count's face and those of the people were grim.
No one paid attention to me as I entered the office.
In that case, there was only one thing to do here.
Assess the situation.
I focused on the conversations of the people leaning against the wall.
"We just had two more injured."
"What's their condition."
"Sir Lloyd's working on it, but there are no life-threatening injuries."
"What about the griffins?"
"They are agitated. Three of them have been flying for two hours straight."
"The two griffins that landed are also acting restless."
"Our griffins here are also excited."
"Healer Dan has started investigating."
An accident occurred at the Griffin training ground.
The fact that Lloyd himself was at the training ground meant that someone was hurt.
It's highly likely that they crashed while flying on the griffins.
It could be either a problem with the person or a problem with the griffin.
"What's going on?"
As I walked forward and asked, all eyes immediately turned towards me.
"Good timing. There's a problem at the training ground."
"That seems to be the case. Is it related to the griffins?"
As soon as I mentioned it, the Count paused for a moment and then responded.
"Yes. It seems something is not right."
The Count let out a short sigh and continued speaking.
"We've started investigating the cause, but the sudden incident caused confusion at the training grounds."
I could make a guess.
The fact that the Count called for me meant that the problem was with the griffins, not the people.
"Is it a problem with the knights or a problem with the griffins? I think it's most likely an issue with the griffins."
"Yes. You're right. There seems to be a problem with the griffins. However, it's not like last time where they were injured."
"They don't seem to be injured. They are just extremely agitated."
One of the knights who was reporting to the Count spoke up.
"It seems to be a collective behavior."
I turned my head to ask the knight. They were probably at the scene and could provide more details.
"Collective...yes, that's right."
"Are they still eating fine?"
"Yes, of course. Ah, they've been a little restless since last night though."
The condition of the griffins was revealed by the knight. As the conversation ended, the Count spoke to me.
"Healer Dan wanted you to come."
So, this was the reason why I was here.
I could feel that my status in this household had risen.
Otherwise, even if Healer Dan asked for me, I wouldn't have given it a second thought.
"I'll get ready."
With my response, I left the office.
I exited the building and made my way towards the stables. As I did, a knight called out to me.
"Young master, this way please."
"You go ahead."
"You need to leave immediately."
"I'll follow right behind."
I waved my hand to the knight and then spoke to Seigan.
"Seigan, bring an empty sack and come with me."
"A sack? What are you going to do? Oh, no, never mind. I won't ask."
"That's right. Good thinking. Bring a shovel too."
"Yes, yes."
Seigan and I ventured deep into the garden.
"Hmm, it should be around here."
I searched the ground and picked up some herbs.
"Here it is. Seigan, let's put these in the sack."
"Herbs?"
"Yes."
Seigan looked at me.
It was an expression that said, "Are you crazy?" but he didn't say it out loud.
I know exactly what you're thinking.
I smirked and sat down, plucking the herb until the sack was full.
"Well, this should do."
With the bag in hand, we set off for the training grounds.
When we arrived at the training grounds, the chaos I had seen in the office was nothing compared to this.
The training grounds were a disaster zone in itself.
People were scattered on the ground and the creatures called griffins were growling and snorting.
To be honest, it was my first time seeing griffins, it was surprising, bewildering, and fascinating. That's the kind of thought I should have.
But those thoughts disappeared in an instant.
The only thing on my mind was that I needed to calm these creatures down right away.
In the distance, I saw Healer Dan running towards me. He must have spotted me.
His expression looked as if he had met a savior. Seeing that he couldn't solve it either, I grew even more worried about the griffins.
"Young master!"
The approaching Healer Dan looked grave.
"What's the situation?"
"So far, 10 knights have been injured."
"Are they in serious condition?"
"Fortunately, the well-trained knights didn't suffer severe injuries, but those griffins..."
"Aren't they excited?"
"That is what's so strange."
"What do you mean?"
"After the morning flight, they suddenly started behaving like that."
"Has this happened before?"
"Not really. If it had, we wouldn't be standing idle like this."
"I see."
"But what's that?"
Healer Dan pointed to the sack.
"Oh, I'll explain later. For now, sprinkle this herb near the griffins and extract some juice onto the herb."
Healer Dan glanced at me discreetly. But his gaze was completely different from Seigan's.
It was a look of complete trust. And there was something else.
Anticipation.
"Yes, let's do that."
A while later, as I instructed, but with no visible results, Healer Dan's expression gradually shifted from anticipation to disappointment.
Peter, Healer Dan's assistant, said as if he expected that.
"Healer Dan, time is passing. How about catching one of those griffins and examining it?"
"Who wouldn't know that? But who's going to catch those agitated creatures? Even the knights have all fled."
Everyone glanced at me and looked at the griffins, unable to do anything.
"Just wait a little longer."
In response to my words, Healer Dan nodded hesitantly.
"Young master, I don't know what that is, but I think you're wrong. Let's try to find the cause... Huh?"
At that moment, one of the griffins that had been circling the sky began to descend. Towards where we were standing.
"Take cover!"
"Young master!"
Healer Dan and Seigan shouted at the same time.
However, the griffin was much faster.
The griffin landed like a bullet, right onto the patch of herbs.
The griffin lowered its head sniffing the herbs, immersed in the scent of it.
"Whoa!"
Healer Dan exclaimed in surprise, but the griffin paid no attention and became engrossed in the herbs.
It grabbed the herbs with its front paw, rolled around, licked it, and ate it...
"It worked!"
Just as I intended.
I looked around with a relaxed expression.
The other griffins that had been circling in the sky had landed at some point and were all rolling around on the herbs.
Healer Dan breathed a sigh of relief as he watched the griffins rolling on the ground.
Peter looked at me with a bewildered expression.
"How did this happen..."
"I'll explain later. For now, let's distribute this herb to the griffins over there."
"Yes."
The creatures that had the body of an eagle and the legs of a lion were much larger than expected.
I followed Healer Dan and observed the griffins.
As expected, I didn't see any visibly injured griffins.
However...
The griffin I just saw had its head feathers standing up at an angle.
Next to it, there was a griffin with yellow fur standing up at a steeper angle.
Around 10 degrees, 20 degrees, 40 degrees, 30 degrees, and even around 70 degrees.
"That one is the leader, right?"
"Yes."
The griffin with the highest-standing feathers was much larger than the other griffins, making me, Seigan, and even Healer Dan look small in comparison.
"Then let's calm that one down first."
Some of the excited creatures seemed to be in a better mood, rolling around and making happy noises.
Now that their guard was down, it was a good time to treat them.
"Healer Dan, can you show us how to treat the griffin?
"Of course."
Healer Dan went over to the griffin lying on its side and took something out of his pocket.
It looked like a pen, and he held it against the griffin's body without moving.
"Is he taking its temperature?"
Just as I thought that a bright light suddenly appeared. It was green.
"There are no abnormalities."
"What?"
I looked closely at the pen-like object in Healer Dan's hand.
There were red, yellow, and green stones lined up in it.
"It's a mana diagnostic device."
I had seen it in a book.
"Yes, when it lights up green like this when placed against the body, it means the creature is healthy."
"Yellow means caution, and red means it's in pain?"
"That's right. It's very useful for people like me with low mana sensitivity."
Healer Dan and I went around the training ground, checking the griffins.
Every time he used the mana diagnostic device on a griffin, the green light would turn on and Healer Dan would breathe out a sigh of relief.
I also let out a short sigh. A sigh of satisfaction.
In fact, I already knew that the griffins would be healthy before Healer Dan used the device. Whenever I thought, "This one must be healthy," the green light would inevitably turn on.
Is this the effect of just 1 mana being accumulated?
If so, what about 2, 3, 10, or even 100 mana being accumulated?
I bit my lips as I pulled the muscles in my cheeks that moved involuntarily.
"I'm glad the griffins are healthy, but I'm also very worried, just like the young master."
My expression must have looked worried, as Healer Dan furrowed his brows.
"The morale of the knights must be very low."
"That's right. No matter how good the glory and honor are, there's no need to risk their lives for an adventure. It's not like we’re going for the enemy’s throat."
"That's true."
There’s no need to make a big deal out of a small show.
"Still, it's such a relief that this situation was resolved with this herb."
Healer Dan pointed at the herb in my hand.
"This is just a temporary solution. It only provides temporary relief for a few hours."
It was a few days ago when I was passing by the garden with Spica.
There were four cats lying on the ground in the garden, rubbing their backs against something.
It looked like they were scratching their bodies.
But that wasn't the case.
They weren't scratching their bodies out of annoyance, but out of excitement and pleasure.
With their eyes half-closed and raised tails, they were purring and swaying, just like cats on catnip.
At that time, the herb the cats were rubbing against was none other than catnip.
I brought it, wondering if lions would react the same way as cats. Fortunately, they did.
Upon hearing that the griffins were excited, I immediately thought of catnip. I wanted to calm them down and perform a medical examination.
And indeed, the griffins were in a state of excitement.
That being said, there must have been a reason for their excitement but what could it be?
"Young master, how do you deal with something like this?"
"This herb contains a substance called nepetalactone, which is a pheromone... Ah!"
That was the problem. I knew what it was.
It was an accident caused by pheromone interference. Someone was undoubtedly emitting strong pheromones.
It was an incident caused by a pheromone disturbance. Someone was definitely emitting a strong pheromone.
The fact that all of them were going crazy meant that it had affected everyone.
In that case, there are two possibilities.
Either there is someone stronger than the guys at the training ground.
Or it's a medication made from pheromones, like Feliway.
Also.
"Young master?"
Looking at the bewildered Healer Dan, I chuckled.
"Healer Dan, did you mention something about a patent?"
I'll have to go to the Healing Tower to find out, but judging by the situation, it seemed like their understanding of animal behavior is not even at a basic level.
I have to take charge.
The one who starts first always has the upper hand.
* * *
The Count was overjoyed.
"Hahaha, well done. You are now a treasure of our family, a treasure."
The Count openly praised me. It felt like just a little while ago, I was treated as a useless troublemaker, but now I felt like a respected general.
"I know the Eagle Knight Show is imminent, but I would like to pause the training for a moment."
"Hmm, that's probably for the best. It involves lives, after all."
The Count seems to be a person with a decent character. I thought he would just push through.
"If the Eagle Knight Show is canceled, who benefits the most?"
I asked the Count directly.
The Count stared at me for a moment and then spoke.
“are
“There those who want to swallow up our Mana Stone Mine, as well as those who are targeting the Eagle Knight itself.”
As he mentioned the Mana Stone Mine, I thought of Sharen, who had complained about the balance in her bank account.
She had grumbled about how expensive it was.
"Whether they're targeting the Mana Stone Mine or the Eagle Knights, it's all for the same purpose."
The Count let out a long sigh.

Note: Sigh. I said that I'll be uploading every weekend but I wasn't able to. I feel burned out due to work and the company's toxic workplace. Not only at the company but also at the company's dorm where I stay at. Also, I have no internet that's why I can't access raws. Sigh. To be honest, I don't like working there with such people, and I also dislike staying at the dorm because no one likes me there. But I gotta live. Haha.
PS. Thank you for reading!
